100% LAMDA Success at Avalon!

We are proud to announce that 100% of our pupils passed their LAMDA examinations this year, with 99% achieving a pass with distinction!

On 7th July 2016, pupils from Avalon School took their LAMDA speech and drama examinations under the tuition of their speech and drama teacher, Mrs Hamer who provides weekly speech and drama lessons at Avalon School.  We are very proud to say we had a 100 % pass rate with 99% of pupils passing with a Distinction, the highest mark you can gain.

Avalon School has its own private centre for LAMDA examinations to annually take place. The London Academy of Dramatic Art examination board is internationally acclaimed, it forms one of the largest Theatre Schools in London, and it is recognised for not only Acting but also Musical Theatre and Public Speaking. At Grade 6 the children’s LAMDA examination results are transferable to UCAS university points, already we have children who have taken and passed Grade 3 with distinction.

The children who entered the LAMDA examinations had worked hard selecting and preparing verse speaking and prose reading pieces of literature to enter in to the examination.  They also researched the authors for a discussion about their selection.  Not only was this fun for the children, it encouraged and introduced the children to enjoy new literature as well as teaching the children good technique and skills for public speaking.  The children all received written feedback and a certificate from the examination. The aim of the examination is to help improve your child’s skills as a performer; therefore this is an enjoyable experience with a friendly atmosphere.

We are extremely proud of our pupils at Avalon School and look forward to watching the ‘devised performance’ our children are co-writing this term and entering the Wirral Festival in the spring term 2017.
