Mindfulness Club visit The Old Garden

Mindfulness Club trip to the Old Garden Residential Home

Year 5 and 6 Mindfulness Club recently visited the Old Garden Residential Home in Hoylake. The children showed a group of residents and staff some of the relaxing, calming exercises that they practise during their Friday lunchtime Mindfulness sessions with Mrs McGregor. The residents and staff were encouraged to join in and learn some relaxation techniques.

Next, Abbie from Year 5 played some peaceful tunes on her harp. Everyone was blown away by Abbie’s expertise, especially considering she has only been learning to play the harp for a year or so.

The most popular activity was the ‘chocolate tasting!’ The children explained how to let the chocolate dissolve on the tongue, savouring the taste and texture of the chocolate.

Children and residents then worked together doing some mindful colouring in, whilst enjoying some refreshments.

The residents and staff commented on the exemplary behaviour of all the children.

We look forward to continuing our collaborations with the Old Garden during the next academic year.
