Junior Maths Challenge 2018

Year 5 and 6 boys take on UKMT mathematical challenge

The UKMT Mathematical Challenges aim to stimulate mathematical problem solving.

The Junior Challenge is aimed at students in Year 8 or below (England and Wales), S2 or below (Scotland) and Year 9 or below (Northern Ireland). It is the UK's most popular mathematics competition with over 300 000 students taking part each year.

Children will have 1 hour to answer as many mathematical questions as they can. The questions are very challenging and call on children to use existing knowledge to solve problems. The beauty of maths is there is often more than one way to solve the problem and these questions certainly reward ingenuity.

Could you answer them yourselves? Here are some of the easier ones!
