Learning Together at Avalon: A Celebration of Community, Curiosity and Confidence

At Avalon, we believe that education is at its most powerful when it is shared. Our recent Learning Together Day was a wonderful reflection of this belief, as we opened our doors to parents, families and carers, inviting them to step into school life and experience a typical day alongside their children.

From the moment families arrived, there was a genuine sense of warmth, excitement and togetherness. Classrooms quickly came alive with shared discovery, laughter and a real enthusiasm for learning. As part of British Science Week, parents rolled up their sleeves and joined in with hands-on experiments, exploring scientific ideas side-by-side with their children. PE lessons brought energy and teamwork to the fore, while elsewhere, families learned new skills such as crochet, took part in lively debates and even tested their mental agility in quick-fire maths challenges.

It was a day that truly captured the spirit of Avalon—where learning is active, engaging and inclusive, and where every member of the community feels valued.

For our children, the opportunity to showcase their skills and share their achievements with their families was incredibly meaningful. Confidence shone through as they explained their thinking, demonstrated new techniques and took pride in their learning journey. For parents, it provided a unique and authentic insight into daily life at the school.
